I feel you. Being passionately, outspokenly In Love is exhausting and distracting and, if it’s not for you, cheapens the experience, in my opinion. To me, being in love is finding a special stone on a rocky beach. You pick it up, feel its weight in the palm of your hand, turn it over and over and over until you’ve worn it smooth with familiarity, then put it in your pocket and carry on. You can always feel its weight and the heat generated by its closeness, but you aren’t wearing it out by showing it around to every person.

It’s different for some, but that’s my metaphor.

 Dude. Completely agree. Also, that’s the same metaphor I use, strangely enough.
